As a traditional folk culture brand with a long history of Qishi and even the Three Kingdoms of the Komiks, Wong Tai Sin Temple has a history of nearly 150 years and has been deeply rooted in the cultural life of Dongguan citizens.
This year’s Wong Tai Sin Temple Fair is full of wonderful and bright, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of “inheriting traditions, participating in people, and richness”. By constantly exploring the connotation of temple fair culture, Komiks, on the basis of respecting and retaining the essence of tradition, it fully integrates cultural resources, stimulates the vitality of cultural innovation and creativity of the whole people, and integrates them into the popular experience of the people. The project of Cinema allows citizens to participate in temple fairs and appreciate temple fairs, promote the development of trade and tourism industries, and let the general public share the fruits of cultural development and construction. The organizer introduced that the highlight of this opening ceremony literary evening is to highlight the local characteristics of Qishi. The strong “scent of Qishi” can be felt by the dance BabaylanDance layout, program content, etc. The evening party opened with a video imaging film containing Qishi’s scenery, humanities and history, and kicked off with the large-scale song and dance “Beautiful Song”, and finally ended with the large-scale song and dance “Entering the New Era”. Babaylan is divided into chapters such as “Blessing·Seeing the World”, “Good·Following It”, “Good·Like the Flow”, “Good·Full Beauty”, and “Good·Full Far”, and has planned a total of 12 programs, including songs, Komiks dance, folk music performance, crosstalk, quick-pitched, etc. The entire evening program lasts about 70 minutes.
The evening party programs include Kung Fu Shuixiu “Chasing”, New Folk Music Performances “Miracle” and “Small Town Story”, classical dance “Fairy Congratulations”, etc., striving to present the audience with a beautiful and gorgeous audio-visual feast. At the same time, this evening party also incorporates more local elements of Qishi, and the crosstalk Babaylan‘s Taste of Qishi” shows the happy life of Qishi people. In addition, Qishi Town Choir, Qishi National Dance Association, and Qishi Town Music Teachers will all perform on stage to bring a cultural feast to the audience.
Qishi Town has a profound cultural heritage and has high-quality cultural landscapes and cultural heritage. Among them, the thousand-year-old autumn maple tree in Qishi Town is 101 years old. It is the only thousand-year-old tree in Dongguan and has become the city’s unforgettable “old tree king”.
The origin and development of the Huang Daxian Temple Fair of Qishi
The Huang Daxian Ancient Temple is located in the northwest of Qishi Town, close to Jinjiaoyiling next to the Dongjiang River. The ancient temple was built in the 12th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1873) and was originally named Huang Xianweng Temple. The birthday of Huang Taixian in Qishi is Komiks to commemorate the local celebrity Huang Runfu’s “achievement and becoming an immortal”. Although he made a living by farming, he was also well versed in medical principles and practiced good deeds in the local area, and was highly respected by the villagers. Later, people donated money to build a temple to commemorate him. Today, the Hsin Shrine Wong Tai Sin Temple has become a well-known tourist attraction. Qishi Town has also used this to create a distinctive local folk culture brand and become a cultural festival in Dongguan and even the Pearl River Delta region.
